Mechanical Engineer
Mechanical Engineers are typically involved with the design and developing procedures for maintenance of mechanical and rotating equipment and machines.
Typial Day/Duties.
General Project Engineering activities
Provides support to the Technical Authority TA requirements of the project.
Develops procedures relating to operations, design and maintenance.
Ensures safe, reliable and environmentally responsible operations
Making use of industry/company codes and standards
Designing/specifying new or replacement equipment
Managing the maintenance and repair of existing equipment
How this role fits in with the rest of the industry.
Mechanical Engineers support the plant equipment both onshore and offshore to ensure that it remains efficient and productive.
Mechanical Engineers can work for a range of companies including companies who own or manage production facilities known as Operators , Service Companies and Engineering Consultancies.
A mechanical engineer will interact as part of a larger mechanical team, using knowledge and expertise from their own experience, as well as that of others. This will also involve working with other engineering disciplines such as electrical, and construction engineering , to ensure the highest quality of work.
Basic entry requirements include necessary
HND in a related engineering subject with relevant work experience or equivalent or;
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related discipline
Employers might also look for desirable
Willing to become a Chartered Engineer a professionally recognised qualification
Willing to and has the ability to gain offshore safety training and Medical Certificate
Work experience in a similar role gained during College/University/study
Interest in general mechanical/engineering activities and hobbies such as cars, bikes etc
Typical starting salary may be in the region of
AED23,000 – AED30,000
depending on entry point, location and company
Typical Salary once experienced
AED50,000 upwards once Chartered
Career development.
As you gain experience and expertise throughout your career, there are many opportunities to progress to Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer or a Consultant. There may also be a particular are of engineering that you choose to become a specialist in.
Depending on which areas of work you enjoy there is also the possibility of becoming a Team Leader or Project Manager.
